Jada Pinkett Smith reflects on the relationship between husband Will Smith and Chris Rock, two months after Will hit the comedian in the face of the 2022 Oscars.
At the beginning of the conversation at the Red Table on Wednesday, 50-year-old Jada said in front of the camera: “About the night of the Oscars. My deepest hope is these two intelligent, capable men to be able to heal, talk about it and reconcile. “
“With the state of the world today, we need both, and in fact we all need each other more than ever,” the Girls Trip actress continued.
“Until then, Will and I continue to do what we’ve been doing for the last 28 years – and that’s it [to] keep coming up with this thing called living together. Thank you for listening to me, “Jada concluded.

Wednesday’s new episode explores people’s stories of living with alopecia, a condition Jada is openly battling. On the night of the Oscars, Rock joked with Jada’s shaved head, which prompted Will to take the stage and hit the comedian.
The 53-year-old Will was banned from future ceremonies and related events for 10 years by the 57-year-old Rock Slap Academy on stage during the March ceremony after the comedian joked with Jada’s shaved head.
After the incident, Will, who won the Best Actor award for his role in King Richard, publicly apologized to Rock, saying he had “reacted emotionally” because Jada’s medical joke was too hard for me to I endure. ” (Jada was open to living with alopecia and the condition was the subject of a discussion on RTT on Wednesday.)

The former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star has also resigned from the Academy. Will then traveled to India to practice yoga and meditation, a source told PEOPLE last month.
Two days after the incident, Jada broke her silence on social media with a message on her Instagram that read, “This is a healing season and I’m here for it.”

Earlier, Jada said she and her family would discuss the aftermath of Will’s Oscar incident eventually on her talk show when the time came.
In a statement at the beginning of the premiere episode of season 5 of Red Table Talk last month, she said in a statement: “Given everything that has happened in the last few weeks, the Smith family is focusing on deep healing. Some of the Discoveries surrounding our healing will be shared at the table when the time comes. “
“Until then … the table will continue to offer powerful, inspiring and healing testimonies like that of our incredibly impressive first guest (Janelle Monae). Thank you for joining us, Jada,” it concludes.
