A prominent Russian TV presenter said that World War III had already begun because of Western weapons support for Ukraine.
Russia 1 presenter Olga Skabeeva said Russia’s so-called special military operation in Ukraine was over and “a real war has begun, World War III.”
She added that Moscow now needs to expand its “demilitarization” goal to include NATO countries.
In Monday’s edition of her 60 Minutes program, Ms. Skabeeva said: “It is time to admit, perhaps, that Russia’s special operation in Ukraine has already ended in the sense that a real war has begun, World War III.
“We are forced to demilitarize not only Ukraine but NATO as a whole.
She said that the use of American M777 howitzers by Ukrainian troops in Donbass led her to the conclusion – although this is not the first time she has listened to the beginning of World War III.
Ms. Skabeeva is a popular propagandist who enthusiastically follows the Kremlin’s line in broadcasts on Russia’s second-largest news network.
She had previously claimed that World War III began about six weeks after the sinking of the Russian warship Moscow in the Black Sea. Her claim at the time was also due to Ukraine’s use of Western military equipment.
Earlier, Skabeeva said that World War II had been here since April

She said: “It is safe to say that this escalated in World War III, that’s for sure.
“At the moment, we are definitely fighting against NATO’s infrastructure, if not against NATO itself. We have to admit that. “
Her Russia 1 broadcasts have often included Russian officials, both military and political, with unusual allegations.
Most recently, Russia’s top lawmaker, Oleg Morozov, suggested that the Kremlin kidnap NATO’s defense minister and bring him to Moscow to be questioned about possible Western military orders for Kyiv.
Commenting on the American news agency Business Insider on Ms. Skabeeva’s profile, Russian media researcher Vasily Gatov said the excessive and scandalous style of presentation of the TV operator could be likened to Fox News presenter Tucker Carlson in the way attracts viewers.

“It’s a bit like Carlson’s popularity. Contradictory, scandalous person who polarizes “, said Mr. Gatov.
However, unlike Mr Carlson, Ms Skabeeva was paid by her country’s government to follow the state line.
An investigation last year by the anti-corruption network of leading Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny found that Ms. Skabeeva and her husband and co-host Evgeny Popov, also host of Russia 1, own 300 million rubles (£ 4 million) in property. Moscow.
A 2020 report by the independent Russian news site The Insider says the team’s husband and wife are among the highest paid TV propagandists in the country, earning 12.9 million and 12.8 million rubles respectively (about £ 160,000) – more than Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
