Oakley’s parents are scared of the murder of Alexis Gabe
Alexis Gabe’s parents are afraid that their daughter was killed, allegedly by her ex, and her body has not yet been found.
OAKLY, California – The ex-boyfriend of an Oakley woman who has been missing for six months was killed by law enforcement officials in Washington state when they tried to arrest him for her alleged murder, police said Thursday.
It was the first time law enforcement officials revealed that Alexis Gabe, who went missing in January, had been killed.
Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard said 27-year-old Marshall Curtis Jones – who was dating 24-year-old Gabe – was shot dead Wednesday by members of the Task Force on Violent Criminals in the Northwest Pacific while trying to he was arrested and he charged them with a knife.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
The couple separated in November 2021.
But Gabe’s father, Gwyn Gabe, told a news conference that the two had been dating for three years and Jones had been the love of his daughter’s life.
“He became part of our family,” Gwyn Gabe said emotionally. “We had no idea he could do such a thing to her.
Oakley and Antioch police issued an arrest warrant earlier in the day for Jones, who was in Kent, Washington, for the murder of Gabe, who has been missing since Jan. 26.
“He became part of our family. We had no idea he was capable of doing something like this to her.” Father Gwyn Gabe
East Bay Authorities had asked a Pacific Northwest team consisting of the Seattle Police Department, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office and the United States Marshal’s Office to serve the order.
Although the investigation was almost entirely focused on him, Thursday’s announcement was the first time police have identified Jones as the official suspect who allegedly killed her at his home in Antioch.
He had not cooperated with police when Gabe disappeared, and had moved from California days after Gabe’s disappearance to Washington, D.C., where he has family and friends.
Jones returned to California for a brief period last month, police said.
“He refuses to talk to us several times,” Beard said. “It did nothing but prolong our investigation.”

Beard said Jones was the only murder suspect in the case, but police believe he may have had help along the way.
Jones had a registered weapon but no criminal record, police said.
Contra Costa County Attorney’s Office has also announced formal murder charges against Jones, despite the fact that he is dead.
Thursday was also the first time police said Gabe, a former student of nursing, was dead.
Police believe she was killed at Jones’ home in Antioch the day she disappeared.
Her body was not found. The beard promised to keep looking for him. He suspects he’s still in California.
Beard said there was enough evidence to link Jones to the murder: Gabe’s cell phone, found near Jones’ house, had his DNA on the inside of the empty case.
Beard also said there was a lot of other “digital evidence”, such as phone calls and surveillance footage, linking the now-deceased Jones to Gabe’s death.
He said there were traces of photos showing Jones leaving Gabe’s home in Oakley the night she disappeared at his home in Antioch.
Police in Antioch have also been tapping Jones’ cell phone since late April, which also cites them, law enforcement said.
No motive specified.
“We’re still researching this,” Byrd said.
Gwyn Gabe said his family did not want Jones dead.
“We wanted him arrested to pay for his sins,” said Gwyn Gabe. “We wanted to meet him face to face. We wanted to look him in the eye and ask him why, to ask him, where is Alexis? I know the police say our daughter was caught, but our daughter it will remain alive in our minds and in our hearts. We will keep looking for her until we find her. “
Police are also complaining about Jones being killed.
“Jones’ death is not what we hoped for,” Beard said, adding that an investigation into what had happened and where Gabe’s body might be located was now hampered.
But Beard reiterated that he still has a $ 100,000 reward for information leading to Gabe’s body.
“We hope that someone who knows Alexis’ whereabouts will now feel more empowered to leave without having to say no to a negative response from Marshall Jones,” Beard said.
