From the Trooping the Color show to the All-Star Concert at Buckingham Palace, here’s something to enjoy for the next few days.
Thursday: Official queen’s birthday parade and anniversary beacons
Four days of celebration begin with the official parade for the Queen’s birthday at Buckingham Palace.
The procession will ride at 10 a.m. from The Mall to the Horse Guards Parade, with the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and the Princess Royal on horseback.
Trooping the Color will follow the traditional march – troops of the 1st Battalion, the Irish Guard with Prince William as a regimental colonel. About 1,500 officers and soldiers and 250 horses from the household division will set up the exhibition, accompanied by 400 army musicians. It will end with a six-minute RAF overflight with more than 70 aircraft.

Watching from the balcony of Buckingham Palace with the monarch will be “working” royalty, including the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children.
More than 3,000 anniversary beacons will be lit around dusk in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man, the Overseas Territories of the United Kingdom and the British Commonwealth to pay their respects.
The 21-meter main lighthouse in front of the palace – the “Tree of the Trees” sculpture, invented by British designer Thomas Hedwick, the creator of the 2012 Olympic Cauldron, for the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative – will be illuminated by a high king and light screenings will adorns the facade of the palace.

Friday: Thanksgiving
A traditional thanksgiving service will be held on Saturday at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Shortly before 11 a.m., the largest church bell in England, St. Paul, will ring to mark the service.
The broken Great Paul bell mechanism means it will be ringed manually for the service, for the first royal occasion since its restoration was completed last year. The bell was first rung at Loughborough in March 1882, and also for the coronation of the Queen. The members of the royal family will arrive at 11 o’clock at the closed event together with the guests.
All of the queen’s cousins, children and grandchildren must be present, so Prince Andrew and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to attend, according to reports.
The Archbishop of Canterbury will miss the ceremony because he tested positive for Covid-19. He will be replaced by Archbishop of York Stephen Cotrel. The service will be followed by a Guildhall reception hosted by the Lord Mayor, with members of the royal family arriving at 12.25.
