Police searched a Bacavana Bay woodland on Thursday, but did not find Eric Mirrow, who is well known for his role in the 2011 murder of Wesley Hallam.
Update: On June 3, 2022, at 3:30 p.m., members of the Sault Ste Marie (SSM) OPP, SSM Crime Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, North East OPP Canine Unit, Sault Ste Police Service and Batchewana Police Service are arrested 37-year-old Eric Mearow behind a residence on Superior Street, Fisher Township.
Eric Mirow was handed over to the Salt Saint-Marie Police Department to face numerous charges.
Original story: A man wanted for attempted murder is still on the run after Ontario police responded to a potential surveillance on Thursday night.
Eric Mirow, 37, is wanted in connection with a shooting last weekend on Beverly Street.
Mearow is well known to local police. He was one of three men to plead guilty to manslaughter in the infamous Wesley Hallam knife death at a January 2011 drug-induced home party.
According to a press release released today, the OPP responded on Thursday to a potential surveillance of Mearow in Batchawana Bay.
Police say that together with the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Northeast (Sault Ste Marie) Dog Department, the Northeast Road Accident Management and Enforcement Team (TIME), the Tactical Rescue Department (TRU), the Crime Department at Sault Ste Marie OPP The OPP helicopter of aviation services and the Batchawana First Nation Police Service searched the wooded area behind the Superior Street residence for several hours.
Mearow was not found and police resources cleared the area around 11:30 p.m.
So far, there is no risk to public safety, the statement said.
