Philadelphia Fire Manager Phyllis Joe Girardi

Reserve coach Rob Thomson will serve as Phyllis’ interim manager until the end of the season.

“This has been a disappointing season for us so far, as we believe that our club has not played its full potential,” said Dombrowski. “While we all share the responsibility for the shortcomings, I felt that change was needed and that a new voice in the clubhouse would give us the best chance to turn things around. I believe we have a talented band that can return to the track and I am convinced that Rob, with his experience and knowledge of our club, is the right person to lead us forward. “

Girardi took over the management of Phyllis before the 2020 season. For more than two seasons as captain of Phyllis – including the shortened pandemic season 2020 – Girardi’s team set a record of 132-141 and never reached the postseason.

Girardi previously led the New York Yankees from 2008-2017. He led the team to the World Series title in 2009. As a player, Girardi won three World Series rings.
