The suspect was identified by police after the attempted robbery of a bank and post office in Halifax.

Merseyside police rushed to the Bootle Strand shopping center around 12.25 on Monday, May 30, after reports of a man firing a gun inside. After officers arrived at the scene, eyewitnesses told them that the shots had been fired at Halifax bank and the man had fled the scene in a dark mountain bike.

No casualties were reported, but bank staff and customers remained “extremely shaken” by the incident, police said. Two days later, police rushed to the Lane Park Post Office in Nederton at around 3.15pm after a man entered the store and demanded money from the cash register.

When officers refused to give him money, it was reported that he fired into the air with a pistol described by witnesses as a starting pistol. Police said the man then fled on a pedal bike.

Later that day, police arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of attempted robbery. Adam Gilbert, 36, who has no fixed residence but hails from the Butle area, has been charged with two counts of attempted robbery, two counts of possession of an imitation firearm and one charge of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place. .

He was remanded in custody to appear before the Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on 3 June 2022.
