Affiliates have always been a fake contender. With salary alone, they have misled some people into thinking otherwise. The Mets, Dodgers and Yankees alone have spent more than $ 233 million in Philadelphia. But it would be difficult for Phyllis to win 90 with poor defense and questionable bullpen. Joe Girardi paid the price for these shortcomings. But he also added to them.
The Philistines fired Girardi as manager on Friday after 273 games, which can only be classified as a failure. Girardi was 132-141 with Philadelphia while leading the worst bullpen in baseball (5.00 ERA), other than the Rockies (5.38 ERA). Girardie’s rebars somehow gave up the fourth-least Homer and suffered the fifth-most losses in three seasons, despite throwing the fourth-least passes.
Girardi’s time as Phyllis’ manager can only be described as a failure.

Unofficially, Girardi was gone on May 24. That was the night in Atlanta when Girardi refused to use his cousin, Corey Knebel, after Bryce Harper with two homers at the top of the ninth gave Phyllis a 5-4 lead. One win would draw Phyllis to a game of 0.500. Girardi asked Nick Nelson to do something he had never done before: Close a one-run ball game. Ten pitches later, Phyllis lost. And Girardi lost the club. This started a 1-7 tailspin, which sealed his fate.
Why doesn’t Girardi use his loved one tonight? He has a “rule” that no wrestler should do three consecutive days, especially at the beginning of the season. Defending himself, Girardi raised the science of garbage. “Look at how many boys operated on Tommy John last year,” he said.
He told Knebel, who wanted the ball, “You threw a lot of pitches” in each of the previous two days. His point counts: 23 and nine.
Protecting players’ health is amazing. But you can’t be so hard as to ban common sense, especially when the players in your position have fought to the brink of victory.

The greatest relief pitcher of all time, Mariano Rivera, played 19 years without a serious arm injury. Do you know how many times he played three days in a row? Forty-six times. He did this 39 times for Joe Torre and seven times for Girardi.
The fleece of Phyllis would test any manager, but Girardi has no good experience in managing the bullpen. His bunkers ranked in the bottom half more times (eight) than in the top half (six). In his eight years without Rivera, Girardi’s ranks were 3, 14, 16, 19, 21, 24, 25, 30.
In addition to its use, Girardi became passionate about his compositions, a popular critique that is usually overestimated by critics. However, Girard’s leading strikers scored 0.252 percent on the base. Only two teams have finished the season with a worse OBP outside the top spot: the 1969 Padres expansion and the ’81 Blue Jays.
There was little Girardi could do with the hand he was given in defense. An injury to Harper’s elbow forced free agents Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos to move regularly to the corner corners. The internal defense was so poor that it allowed an average blow of 0.270 for landing players – 38 points worse than average and worse than any team except national teams.
Every year the Phyllis have less space in their home park than any other team and every year they defend poorly. Under Girardi, they ranked 30th, 23rd and 26th in terms of defense efficiency. In the previous three seasons, they ranked 16th, 29th and 22nd. Girardi’s deputy, Rob Thomson, will not turn bad defenders into good ones.
Don’t let the luxury tax fool you. From the very beginning, the Phyllis were an insufficient team. Trying to win without reliable defense and bullpen is a formula for losing. The violation (seventh in the league by running matches) was not close to covering such shortcomings. It was a difficult task and Girardi had to leave because he was not up to par.
