Platinum Jubilee street parties continue in Dorset

COMMUNITIES gathered in Dorset for a second day of street parties to celebrate the Queen’s platinum anniversary.

The streets of the agglomeration were decorated in red, white and blue, while neighbors had fun to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Queen’s reign.

The spirit was high when people joined in to sing, dance, play games and eat an impressive amount of cake.

In Kinson, Green Lane residents had lined the streets with buntings, unions and props on a jubilee-themed party hosted by neighbors Michaela, Sue and Paulina.

Michaela said: “I am the queen’s lover, I love the royal family and I just think it’s great for the community.

Ben, Paulina, Dot, Aurora and Noah celebrate in Kinson.

On Parr Street, a group performed a superb performance of Stevie Wonder’s Superstition as groups gathered to celebrate.

The children could paint their faces and buy a large selection of sweets, while the friends made the most of the pub on the corner.

The party was also very suitable for dogs, with many dogs basking in the sun while people made the most of the holiday weekend.

The spirit of community was felt in Southbourne as well. Wick Green became the home of a lively jubilee themed party organized by longtime residents Marietta and Brenda.

Marietta said: “I have lived here for 21 years. Brenda has lived here longer.

Hanalei, Blake and Cleo enjoy a street party at Wick Green.

“We just love the queen and everything.” It is about the spirit of community and the unification of all.

Brenda added: “We are a wonderful community and we all know each other. It’s a great support network, so it’s great to be together. ”

The festivities began early on Burtley Road. A resident, Chris Griffith, who could be seen rocking a dazzling union hat, told the Daily Echo how the party helped her meet new people. She said: “I have lived here for 20 years and we have already seen people we have not met before.”

Elsewhere, Lulworth Crescent gathered to party on a street that was closed to the public. The game of giant Jenga was in progress, while a large selection of cakes and drinks was available to residents.

The children and parents had a lot of royal face paint, as the families made the most of the sun to enjoy the historic occasion.

Finally, Gorleston Road residents filled two large tables to celebrate the anniversary and enjoyed the rich selection of cakes and alcohol on offer.
