The Sault man is facing several charges following a traffic stop on Highway 17

A Sault Ste. Marie is facing several charges following an accident on Highway 17 in the town of Nairn-Himan, near Espanyol.

Manitulin’s OPP team responded to a signal from a vehicle that did not appear to be able to maintain which lane was moving at different speeds.

During the subsequent stop of the traffic, the officers found out that the driver was intoxicated and an arrest was made.

Keith Nardi, 45, of Sault Ste. Marie was accused of:

  • Operation with a disability – alcohol and drugs, contrary to section 320.14 (1) (a) of the Penal Code (CC)
  • Failure to comply with a request contrary to Article 320.15 (1) of the CC
  • Exceeding the speed limit by 1-49 km / h above the announced limit, contrary to section 128 of the Road Traffic Act (RTA)
  • The driver did not pass a license, contrary to section 33 (1) of the HTA
  • A sign of disobedience, contrary to section 182 (2) of the HTA
  • Holds unlabeled cigarettes, contrary to section 29 (2) of the Tobacco Tax Act

He is due to appear before the Court of Ontario in Espanola on July 4, 2022.
