It was a busy day for the Duchess of Cambridge. This morning she, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte traveled to Wales to pay a special visit to see preparations for the platinum anniversary of Cardiff Castle, but tonight she returned to Buckingham Palace for the BBC Platinum’s stellar music event. Party at The Palace.
For the occasion, Kate wore an ivory look, which she combined with exquisite earrings and a small cross necklace.

Although it was announced that the Queen herself would not be among the thousands gathered to hear performances by Queen and Adam Lambert, Rod Stewart, Alicia Keys and Diana Ross, Prince William and Prince Charles are due to speak at the event, celebrating the 70th anniversary of the queen of the throne – and the queen appeared in a special pre-recorded video with the bear Paddington.

Other performers for the big night include Hans Zimmer, Ella Eyre, Craig David, Mabel, Elbow, George Ezra, Duran Duran and Andrea Bocelli, as well as Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton, Six, The Lion King, and Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. At the Met Gala, Lynn-Manuel Miranda revealed that she was working on a secret project for the platinum anniversary of Queen Elizabeth with composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. The appearance will also be by David Beckham, Julie Andrews and the royal family’s favorite David Attenborough.
While Prince Harry and Megan Markle went out with the royal family for the National Thanksgiving Service yesterday, they are unlikely to appear at tonight’s event. Instead, they are expected to spend the night alone – celebrating their daughter Lily’s first birthday.
