Various local works of art by the Shankil primary school student are included in the new mural.
The Shankil community is hosting an all-day celebration of the Queen’s platinum anniversary on Saturday.
The Shankil Road was a sea of red, white and blue, as a number of activities took place and lasted several hours.
The Queen’s procession and parade of luxurious dresses left Townsend Street at noon, where a new anniversary mural was unveiled on the corner of Crimea Street.
Various local works of art by the Shankil primary school student are included in the new mural.
Other events include retired afternoon tea with live entertainment, a street party for local children with craft tables, face painting, street performers and more.
There was also a drum workshop with performances outside the ACT Initiative – an arch by the Women’s ACT was also on display at Ulster Bank.
Throughout the day, big television broadcast events from Buckingham Palace in the Co-Op community engagement zone.
