A 20-year-old man from Winkler died after the vehicle he was driving rolled into an overflow in Roland’s RM.
According to RCMP Pembina Valley, officers were called in a crash on Route 19 North around 5:15 p.m. Thursday. When they arrived, the vehicle was on the roof of the spillway and submerged in water.
The RCMP said the local fire department pulled a man out of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the spot and was the only person in the vehicle.
Investigators say the man was driving east on Route 19 North when his car was traveling at an angle into a ditch, hit an overflow sewer and overturned.
The RCMP said the man was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The RCMP continues to investigate.
