Volkov wins a quick technical knockout over Rosenstruick

Alexander Volkov returns to the victory column.

The UFC heavyweight contender won a quick technical knockout victory on his return to the octagon at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 207 in Las Vegas. Volkov (35-10 MMA, 9-4 UFC) defeated Jairzinho Rosenstruick after referee Herb Dean gave up the fight at 2:12 of the first round. Rosenstruick (12-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC) was still on his feet at the time of the stoppage, but he was visibly injured.

The suspension was initiated after Volkov opposed a wild combination of Rosenstruyk. The Russian fighter remained calm through the wave of heavy blows, regained his position and struck a sharp, straight right hand in the jaw of Rosenstruyk. From there, the Bigi Boy shook, and Volkov continued his attack, even sending the mouthpiece to Rosenstruyk before the battle was stopped.

With this result, Volkov managed to recover from his loss to Tom Aspinal earlier this year in London. The Russian fighter alternates victories and losses from 2021 – defeats Alistair Overiim, Marcin Tibura and now Rosenstruyk; and loss to Cyril Gane and Aspinal.

Meanwhile, Rosenstruyk has already suffered consecutive defeats for the first time in his professional MMA career. Rosenstruyk came out after a loss to Curtis Blades last September at UFC 266. Rosenstruyk’s last victory came in June 2021, when he stopped Brazil’s Augusto Sakai by TKO in the first round.
