Apple revealed a lot of exciting news at WWDC 2022, giving us a look at the long-awaited macOS Ventura, iOS 16, the M2 chip, the new MacBook Air and much more.
If you haven’t been able to watch the conference live, here’s a list of Apple’s biggest announcements.
Apple has announced iOS 16 and the update brings a completely updated and customized screen lock interface. This allows you to add custom wallpapers, change the font and color of the date and time, and add new weather widgets, activity rings, calendar events, and more. Apple also requires notifications of notifications and its Focus feature.
iOS 16 offers live activities that allow you to capture and manage notifications, such as live sports scores, on the lock screen. Apple also introduces hidden notifications that appear at the bottom of the lock screen.
With iOS 16 you will be able to edit all messages that you send in the Messages application, as well as cancel all messages that you sent by mistake. Apple is also introducing the ability to mark a message as unread so you can easily find it later.
Apple is intervening in the “buy now, pay later” trend, which allows you to make a purchase and pay for it in a series of installments. The new payment feature later came in Apple Pay with iOS 16.
Apple’s new security check feature is designed to protect individuals from abuse. It allows abuse survivors to view and manage who has access to their applications, passwords and more.
Apple has announced a major update to CarPlay that allows for deeper integration with your car. It can replace the dashboard of your car with Apple’s own, showing speed, travel information, fuel and battery levels and more.
Apple has added a number of new health tracking features, such as new running indicators, atrial fibrillation tracking and medication reminders. In addition to all these new features, watchOS 9 adds four new dials.
Apple offers its Fitness app to all iPhone users. Previously, it was only available to those who have an Apple Watch.
Apple has redesigned its core Home app, allowing for greater efficiency while managing devices around your smart home. The update introduces new categories specifically for climate, lighting and security and also allows you to view four security cameras at once.
After months of rumors, Apple’s next-generation silicon is finally here. Apple says the new M2 chip provides an 18% improvement in performance over the M1.

The new MacBook Air replaces the M1 chip with an improved M2. But that’s not all – it’s less than half an inch thick and comes in four colors: silver, cosmic gray, starlight and midnight. It also comes with a larger 13.6-inch display, a slimmer bezel and a small charger with two USB-C ports, starting at $ 1,199 for the M2-equipped model.
Apple’s new 13-inch MacBook Pro also comes with the M2
Like the new MacBook Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro also gets an M2 upgrade. It comes with up to 24 GB of RAM, up to 2TB of storage, and up to 20 hours of battery life – and still has a Touch Bar. The new 13-inch Pro will be available next month and is available for pre-order now, starting at $ 1,299.
With the recently announced macOS 13 Ventura, you can expect an improved multitasking tool called Stage Manager. There are also new updates in Apple’s Spotlight and Mail app.
macOS 13 Ventura also adds support for something called Apple Passkeys in Safari. This new feature essentially replaces the password, allowing you to access various websites with only your iPhone or Mac.
You won’t have to rely on your Mac’s webcam any time soon. Apple has announced that macOS allows you to use your iPhone as a webcam by attaching it using a dedicated video that will appear later this year.
iPadOS 16 comes with a new collaboration feature that allows you to work with other office applications, such as Pages, and also gets a handy new whiteboard tool called Freeform. Apple has also announced improved multitasking features with Stage Manager, which allows you to resize and overlap windows on your iPad. Oh, and the iPad finally gets the Weather app with iPadOS 16.
