Four men have been charged in connection with a pair of violent burglaries reportedly committed by a gang of masked robbers.
Police were called in for reports of burglary in Blundellsands and Gateacre on Saturday (June 4th). Four masked men reportedly broke into their homes and fled with large amounts of jewelry.
A woman in the property was attacked when she entered the Gateacre, according to Merseyside police. Tonight the forces announced John Maloney, 34; Paddy Doran, 25; and John Tuhy, 24, across Oil Street in downtown Liverpool, were arrested along with Philip Purcell, 27, of Letterston Road in Rumney, Cardiff.

The men are charged with two counts of robbery, seizure of a vehicle and dangerous driving. A Merseyside police spokesman said: “At around 11.40am, police received a report of a burglary on Burbo Bank Road in Blundellsands.
“It was reported that four suspects, all with face masks, approached the resident of a property on the road and broke into her house before stealing a piece of jewelry. Police received another report of a second burglary at Hillcrest Lodge in Cuckoo Lane around 12:50 p.m., when four men broke into a property.
“A woman was attacked in the house and a large amount of jewelry was also confiscated. The blue Audi S4 was spotted by police in the area and abandoned after a brief chase in the village of Hale.”
The statement said the four suspects had been detained and would appear in Liverpool’s magistrate’s court tomorrow morning (Monday).
