Two fighter jets flew over downtown Ottawa late Monday morning to mark D’s day.
The Royal Canadian Air Force’s CF-18 Hornets overflew the National War Memorial at 11:05 a.m. Monday.
“The flights of RCAF aircraft are carefully planned and strictly controlled for public safety and depend on weather and summer conditions,” RCAF said in a press release before takeoff.
June 6, 1944 was the day of the Normandy landings, important for the Western Allies’ efforts to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany.
