A GTA pastor has been arrested in an investigation into sexual violence

Hamilton police said a pastor who had worked at the GTA for 25 years had been arrested and charged with sexual assault.

Police said on Tuesday that the 57-year-old pastor had been arrested and charged with sexual assault. He was the head teacher pastor at The Meeting House in Oakville from 1996 to 2021.

Police say they believe there may be more victims. While the church is located in Oakville, it has remote locations in the Greater Toronto area.

Brooks Cavi from Hamilton will appear in court on June 27.

Police are asking anyone with information that can help investigators contact Detective Officer Jeremy Miller at 905-540-5050 or Detective Sergeant Jennifer Curry at 905-546-4962. Those wishing to contact anonymously can also call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

“Hamilton police want all survivors of sexual violence to know that we trust them and will respect their choice of when and how to report an incident,” a police statement said Monday.
