A man was stabbed in York after being attacked from behind

A man was stabbed by an unknown assailant in York.

Police have called for witnesses and information after the man was attacked near Aran Place.

It happened between 3.30pm and 3.40pm on Friday (June 3rd) as the victim walked through the grassy area to Arran Place.

A North Yorkshire police spokesman said: “He was approached from behind by an unknown suspect and was stabbed once in the back of his thigh before the suspect fled in an unknown direction.

“Fortunately, the victim was not seriously injured, but needs hospital treatment.

A witness told YorkMix that armed police and an ambulance were called to the scene on Friday.
