Devon and Cornwall police have been criticized on their Facebook page for dealing with the huge “illegal” rave in North Cornwall, which lasted from Friday night to Sunday afternoon over the platinum anniversary weekend.
Some say the forces are making matters worse by closing roads and preventing people from reaching the site of the former Davidstowe Moore RAF station, where some say there was “enough space for everyone” to park. However, others accused DC police of not doing enough to end the event.
The force did not respond to any of the critical comments and did not release any updates or statements about Saturday’s event. The forces said they had deployed “a significant number of specialized police resources” in the area and were “working to safely manage the current situation”.

In a statement Saturday afternoon, police said “we believe several hundred people are present”. However, the people of the event and the locals claim that the number of those present was “thousands”.
In a text message seen by Cornwall Live, organizers said the “80 teams” would play in the unlicensed “multi-stage” event. Of course, the event aims to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the largest free party ever held in the UK – where between 20,000 and 40,000 ravers take over Castlemorton Common in Malvern Hills, Worcester, England between May 22 and 29. in 1992
Commenting on the latest update posted by police on her Facebook page at 3.47pm on Saturday, Maya Giles wrote: “I think you should blame your idiotic act of closing all local roads to traffic jams. If you allow partygoers to enter the site, where there is enough space for everyone, not once will it be littered with cars parked on the edges and people front-wheel drive.
“It’s easier to control a closed site instead of closing it, so you have hundreds of cars parked everywhere and thousands of people waking up for hours to enter the party. And if you let the people at the party finish the party, all the rubbish will be cleared, contrary to what some of the locals in those comments might think!

“It’s perfectly acceptable to close all over London for a party, but when the people at the party want to gather miles from anywhere, to a safe place, all you want to do is cause chaos. Instead of working with people to minimize any impact on the locals, you create the carnage for days. “
Tristan Knott seemed to agree, adding: “The police must stop disrupting traffic and return to their headquarters for parties, nachos and donuts reasonably.”
However, other people criticized the police for not doing enough to stop the event. Adrian Crocker wrote: “I hope there will be a full interrogation by D&C police once this is finally over and the details are made public – the thousands of innocent people affected deserve no less.”
“Lessons need to be learned here, but for now the only sensible course of action is to let this play out and ensure that everyone leaves the site safely / legally tomorrow. Honestly, D&C didn’t cover up in glory, in fact you should be very embarrassed that this was allowed to happen! “

Colin Michael wrote: “Quite bad from the police tbh, what message does this give … do what you want in numbers, because we will not do anything about it! I know it’s risky, but how will you prevent it in the future if you don’t?
Jonathan Thomas commented: “So it’s already 2 in the morning for the second night and the rave continues to enjoy / endure six miles in Delabole. Why pay for police forces when they are completely unable to protect the local community? Pull the plug, why can’t you or should we take it into our own hands? “
Simon Osbourne wrote: “This is an absolute joke! Devon and Cornwall Police. I have served in Iraq and Afghanistan and suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder. I live almost two miles away, the constant banging of the speakers screaming in my house, no sleep for two days. Now I get a mortar fire that took almost three years of advice to stop. WHY WHY WHY aren’t you doing anything about it? “

Meanwhile, some people appear to support the police position. Beck Draper said: “It’s not like the police actually have the male power to stop this, it’s going to take them a while to get it together. It is best to let it grow properly. And personally, just let them have fun. It’s a bit of a noise, they’re not at war. ”
And some even thanked the police – though probably with their tongues stuck in their cheeks. Clark Bonfield commented: “I didn’t know this was happening until this party promoted the event !!! Thanks to Devon and the Cornwall police for the information, see you there very soon !!”
