A mother told the courtroom about the heartbreak caused when her teenage son, who dreamed of becoming a lawyer, was killed by a drunk driver.

James Bisco, 21, exceeded three times the limit for drunk driving when he raided an ambitious lawyer, Junior Alexander, 16, in Bromley, south-east London, on July 18 last year.

He hit the student at almost 50 miles per hour in a 30-mile zone while driving his Fiat Punto on the wrong side of the road, trying to avoid a speed camera, Old Bailey heard.

After realizing that he had hit Junior, Bisco did not return to help him and fled the scene.

In painful statements read in court during Bisco’s hearing, Junior’s parents spoke of the devastating consequences of their son’s death.

Donna Lonergan, Junior’s mother, told the court how she asked her son not to go out on July 18, when he said he had to leave something for his girlfriend.

“My last words to him were hurry,” she said. I will never tell my other son to hurry now.

Police woke Ms. Lonergan at 4 a.m. when there was a knock on her door.

“All I remember is shouting for Junior and falling to the floor,” she told Old Bailey.

Officials asked her what color her son was wearing.

“When I said red, I saw the look in his eyes. He knew he was Junior. And then I understood, “said Ms. Lonergan.

“I saw my baby lying on a hospital bed with tubes coming out everywhere and blood on his face.

His face still looked so perfect. I couldn’t believe he wasn’t there. All his teeth were knocked out. His beautiful, perfect teeth.

“The police detained him for so long that we had to have a closed coffin. I had to hug the coffin to say goodbye.

Turning to Bisco, Ms Lonergan asked him why he had not helped her son and said that his decision to leave him was “pure evil”.

Earlier, Jason Alexander, Jr.’s father, told the court that his son has ambitions to be a lawyer.

“The irony is that we are here today at the Old Bailey, where he would one day practice his craft. He will never do that now, “he said.

He said the situation could have been “easily” avoided.

‘[Biscoe] we knew the law, we all know the law. You don’t drink or drive, everyone knows that.

Mr Alexander said Bisco had left his son “no chance”.

“He left his body in ruins. “All his teeth were knocked out of his mouth,” he told the court.

“And he didn’t even stop to help, he just let him die in the streets like a dog, a stray dog.”

Asking the judge to pass the maximum sentence, Mr Alexander added: “He will still be a young man when he comes out and has a life, something my son will never have.”

Biscow of Dartford, Kent, admitted to causing death by dangerous driving, dangerous driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to stop after an accident.

To mitigate the guilt, Pierce Keys-Wilson cites his guilty plea, remorse and low risk of re-offending his client when he asked the judge to issue a “rehabilitation permit.”

Bisco showed no emotion, as he was in prison for six years and eight months for causing death by dangerous driving and four consecutive months for dangerous driving.

In addition, he was deprived of the right to drive for a period of 10 years and 6 months.

Judge John Hillen said in his sentence: “Stupidity and cowardice are the softest ways to describe your behavior tonight.

“Here you are in the dock in court number one in Old Bailey, facing a serious prison sentence for deciding to drive while intoxicated tonight.

“For the rest of your life, you will live with the fact that you took your life from drunk driving.”
