The Scout reviews every position after the 2021/22 Fantasy Premier League to highlight the lessons of the season and the players to consider for the next term.
goalkeeper
So often a strong source of value for fantasy managers, the goalkeeper position was dominated by top number 1 in 2021/22.
Alison from Liverpool finished as the top scorer with 176 points, costing £ 6.0 million at the start of the campaign.
In fact, just one of Arsenal’s 11 top scorers, Aaron Ramsdale, has started under £ 5.0 million.
Priced at £ 4.5 million in Gameweek 4 after arriving from Sheffield United, Ramsdale quickly became a ‘budget keeper’.
He won over 2.9 million transfers, more than 1 meter more than any other goalkeeper choice.
After finishing as the sixth highest-scoring goalkeeper with 135 points, Ramsdale will certainly have a higher price in early 2022/23.
Managers looking for value next season could instead consider David Rayt of Brentford.

Raya’s average of 4.0 points per game (ppm) was identical to Ramsdale’s and was better than just three other regular goal scorers.
Raya was limited to just 24 entries due to injury, a total of 95 points.
He kept eight clean nets, also collecting 20 rescue points and five bonus points.
Still, after finishing 17th among goalkeepers, there’s a good chance Raya will start again next season for just £ 4.5 million.
Vicente Guita also averaged 4.0ppm in the first Crystal Palace campaign under Patrick Vieira.
The Eagles impressed in defense with the Frenchman, who was in the lead, with their 12 clean and 46 conceded goals, ranking sixth and seventh, respectively.
Meanwhile, Martin Dubravka of Newcastle United could be an option to rotate the budget for the next term.
He averaged 4.5 ppm at Eddie Howe at home, compared to just 2.9 ppm on the road.
Tomorrow: Top three are arguments for strong defense
