The Ontario Ministry of Labor, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) confirmed that it was informed last Friday that a worker had been found unanswered with fatal injuries at the Algoma Steel property.
The worker was an employee of Fountain Tire.
“An MLTSD inspector was present at the scene and an order was issued,” Kalem Maxwin, a ministry spokesman, told SooToday.
“The ministry’s investigation is ongoing,” Maxwin said.
“The order was issued to the employer, Fountain Tire.
“Due to the ongoing investigation, specific details about the orders / requirements cannot be shared at this time. This disclosure restriction is temporary to protect the investigation. “After the completion of our investigation and possible prosecution, information related to any orders or requirements issued may be released,” he said.
