A woman whose death is being investigated as murder has been identified as a professor at Suffolk University.
Dr. Antonella Castelvedere, 52, is listed in the Italian media as the woman who died at Wickham Road in Colchester, Essex.
Essex police said officers were called in for concerns about the welfare of a woman at the address shortly after 11.45am on Wednesday (June 1st).
Police found a severely injured woman who later died on the spot.
Forces said officers also found a wounded man at the address and he was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken to hospital for treatment.
“Antonella was widely respected”
Police did not name the deceased woman, but Suffolk University said in a statement: “The Suffolk University community is deeply saddened by the premature death of Dr Antonella Castelvedere.
“Antonella was a widely respected and well-liked member of staff at the university, where she was an outstanding academic in English and critical writing.
“Our thoughts are with her family at this very difficult time.”
Detective Chief Inspector Anthony Alcock of the Kent and Essex Serious Crimes Directorate, who is leading the investigation, said detectives “continue to put together the circumstances that led to the incident.”
He said the investigations “suggest that this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the general public in Colchester”.
