Tonight, drivers are facing chaos after numerous incidents on the highways around Manchester. There are nice traffic jams on the M56, M60 and M62, and passengers are urged to find other routes.
Shortly after 18:00 a collision caused chaos on the M56 to the east between J9 (M6) and J7 (Altrincham). Two of the three lanes are currently closed due to the accident, with three miles of traffic jams causing about 45 minutes of delays.
And the M60 counterclockwise near Stockport sees queues of traffic between the J3 and J25, with the Highways North West warning of a 20-minute delay at the moment.

Earlier this afternoon, the M62 was also stopped near the Eccles junction, and no traffic could pass on any of the lanes. Emergency services arrived at the scene where a man was taken to hospital, according to GMP.
A previous statement on the National Highways website said: “The M62 in Greater Manchester is closed east between J11 (Birchwood) and J12 due to a serious collision. All emergency services are currently in place, including the North West Motorway Police Group. place by helping to manage traffic. “
All lanes eventually reopened around 6pm, with congestion increasing over four miles.
