Boeing was sued by the family of the dead Marine for the last accident with Osprey
The crash of a military plane in Southern California on Wednesday was not the first to involve a Boeing-built Osprey tilt rotor.
In 2015, Osprey crashed at Belous Air Force Base in Hawaii, killing Marine Corporal Matthew Jay Determan.
His family claims that the damage to the air particle separator of the car’s engine caused the accident.
In 2019, a federal court in the Ninth District ruled that Boeing and other contractors who designed the Osprey were immune to the suit because they made the vehicle according to government specifications.

What kind of military plane crashed in California today?
Four people died after a military MV-22B Osprey crashed near Glamis, California, on Wednesday.
Many military branches use Osprey, a tilting rotor that can take off vertically like a helicopter, then tilt its rotors forward and fly horizontally like a plane.
Osprey came into operation in 2007, after a difficult history of development.
It has been tested for military use since 1989, but the program has had many crashes, killing 30 people.
Osprey was first stationed in Iraq.

Marines Corp confirms that the aircraft was tilted MV-22B Osprey
Ospreys are operated by the Marines, Navy and Air Force to transport troops and equipment. This is an inclined plane that has a higher top speed and a longer range than a helicopter, but can hang and land in a similar way.
Four North Carolina Marines were killed in an Osprey crash in March during a NATO exercise in Norway.
