Schools return to regular activities – Frontenac Secondary, L’Acadie is blocked – Kingston News

Update (Thursday, June 9, 2022, at 12:26 p.m.) Locks at Frontenac High School and Module De L’Acadie have already been lifted, as well as detention and security at Bayridge High School, according to the Limestone District School board.

“Frontenac SS, Bayridge SS and Bayridge PS have lifted the blockade and detention and security. All staff and students are safe. The learning continues as usual “, the board announced through social networks at 12:28

It is not clear why schools were placed in warning scenarios at the time. Kingston police confirmed that they were present at the scene at the FSS and were “investigating”. Police also said the blockade of the FSS was imposed by “extreme caution”.

In addition, Kingston police are demanding that parents of students in the affected schools not attend school to pick up their children at this time.

“Parents are asked not to attend school at this time, as all staff and students are safe. Further updates will be provided when they become available, “police said on Twitter.

Although there was subsequently a large police presence at Holy Cross High School, a Catholic high school on the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, also located in the western end of Kingston, it is unclear whether this is related to problems with the Frontenac SS and Bayridge SS. This situation has also cleared up, with police leaving the school at around 12:55 pm. Inquiries to the Algonquin and Lakeshore board were not answered immediately.
