Seven more native species have been added to the Endangered Species Act, while two other species have changed their status.
The natural population of red pine on the island of Newfoundland and the coastal swallow have been added to the list of endangered species.
Five other species have been identified as vulnerable, including the evening beak, the red-necked phalarop, the tiny mummy, a fish that lives in salty coastal waters, the yellow-tailed bee, and the transverse beetle.
Two species, the subspecies Red Crossbill percna and Mackenzie’s Sweetvetch – a rare plant that grows in only two areas of the Port-of-Port peninsula – have been downgraded from endangered to endangered.
