OTOVA – The Ministry of National Defense says commander. Dale St. Croix has been suspended from his post as HMCS Halifax Commander-in-Chief and is under investigation.
In a statement issued late Thursday, the department said the investigation “does not (involve) sexual abuse, harmful or inappropriate sexual behavior.”
The frigate began a six-month deployment in northern European waters on March 17th as part of NATO’s Reassurance operation, a deterrent mission to Central and Eastern Europe.
The Navy says it is investigating several incidents that occurred on board the ship during a visit to the port of Swinoujscie, Poland.
St. Croix took command of HMCS Halifax in July 2021.
Commander Paul Mountford is now the ship’s interim commander until he returns to port in mid-July, and St. Croix will serve other roles at Canada’s Atlantic Naval Headquarters until the investigation is complete.
