Square Enix is hosting Final Fantasy 7 Stream next week to mark the game’s 25th anniversary – and many fans will be hoping to see Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Part 2.
Streaming on the publisher’s YouTube and Twitch channels, the stream will take place on June 16 at 15:00 Pacific / 18:00 Eastern / 23:00 UK (so on June 17 at 9:00 AEDT).
It is unclear what Square Enix will announce during the ten-minute stream, but promised fans “a first look at all the information around the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7”.
While fans may be hoping for some news on the long-awaited Remake: Part 2, it’s worth noting that Square Enix has several current spin-offs on the classic PlayStation RPG and may simply announce new information about them. Final Fantasy VII director Remake Tetsuya Nomura said last month that Square Enix would announce “different things” during the anniversary event, but again did not go into more detail.
Other Final Fantasy 7 games include The First Soldier and the upcoming mobile role-playing game Final Fantasy VII: Ever Crisis, but the messages may not be entirely related to the game, much like the recent clothing line. Additional releases are planned, with Nomura saying in January that “there will be more new Final Fantasy 7 projects starting after the remake, which is coming in the future. The team sees this 25th anniversary as a starting point in our journey with Final Fantasy 7 and will continue to strive for even greater things. ”

Remake: Part 2 has been confirmed to be in full swing in July 2020, but Square Enix is otherwise silent on the sequel. In our 8/10 review of Part 1, IGN said: “The dull filler of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and sophisticated additions can make him stumble, but it still breathes exciting new life into the classic while standing as a great role-playing game.
