Want to increase your broadband access? Here are some very easy tips that can help speed up these critical downloads. Virgin Media has just released some vital tips for its router and users would be wise to consider this as it can help stop stuttering.
This flashing black box sitting in the corner of the room may not seem so exciting, but your router is vital to accessing the network. Small settings can improve the connection and also clear up any issues that may be causing problems logging in online.
First, Virgin says it’s really important not to put the router behind your TV or put it in a closet. “Make sure you keep your hub outdoors,” says the broadband company. “Objects can block and slow down WiFi. Signals from baby monitors and cordless phones can also interfere with WiFi signals.”
If possible, Virgin advises having about a meter around the router if you want the best experience and that’s not all.
It is also good practice to keep the Hub upright with its lights pointing at the room. This way, the strongest Wi-Fi signal on your hub goes outside, not the floor.

So this is the first piece of advice. Then it seems that restarting things can improve the health of your broadband. Over time, routers become clogged with data, and turning things off and on can do wonders. Virgin advises users to turn off their Hub from time to time, then wait at least 10 seconds before turning it on again. This should help reset things and clear up any problems that may be slowing down.
One word for attention! Resetting can take up to five minutes, so make sure no one is in the middle of the movie or makes an important call to Zoom before turning things off.
The last tip is to make sure you’re the only one connected to your Wi-Fi, as neighbors who keep in touch can cause annoying interruptions.
All Virgin Media Hubs have a unique Wi-Fi pass to ensure that only you and those to whom you pass pass have access to your Wi-Fi network.
If you think someone may have access, you can change your password, with Virgin offering complete tips through its website. Once you switch, anyone who has used your broadband connection without permission will be blocked.
So, you’ve followed all these tips … now it’s worth taking a speed test to see if you’re getting the speeds that Virgin actually promises you.
The speedtest.net website has been approved by Virgin, so this is a good place to start. Go to the web page and tap “Run the test”, then you will get the results and see how fast or slow things really are.
IF things aren’t up to date, it’s worth checking out the speeds for a few days to see if things are improving. If not, keep your results close and call Virgin.
