Porsche is doing a lot of things well, but one area where the company is doing better than anyone else is this: special and commemorative car editions. Ladies and gentlemen, get your hands together for the company’s latest offering, the 2023 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet America Edition. This name may be a complete bite, but the only words you need to know are the last two: America Edition.
That’s right, this is our own star-studded version of the Porsche 992-Generation 992. It was created to mark the 70th anniversary of the Porsche 356 America Roadster, which debuted in 1952 – and in addition, the 30th anniversary of the America 964 Roadster, itself built to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this original 356.

America is available in only one color: Azure Blue 356, a modern look at the original blue of the first 356 America. Those with a keen eye will notice the white stripe on the side of the car with an even smaller red stripe in the middle. In general, they painted Porsche in red, white and blue. Appropriate.
At first, the wheels look like ordinary white. Take a closer look: they actually have three different coatings designed to make them stand out and return to the silver wheels of the 356. Neato.
On top of that, the windshield trim is painted black to give the Cabrio a more elegant look – misleading the eye to think the structure is as thin and elegant as the 356’s.

Inside, the star-studded motif continues. The interior has a black base color, but is decorated with all sorts of red, white and blue accents. Well, technically it’s not white. The company told us that the color is actually Pebble Gray, because white will stick out too much. It’s all about finesse, something the United States is known for.
The back badges also have a bit of color. “911 Carrera” is written in white and “GTS” is written in Guards Red.

Small details can be found throughout the interior – a white tachometer and red switching pattern and diverted seams are just a few. Porsche says it wants America Edition buyers to continue to notice new aspects of the design while owning and enjoying the car. Interestingly, there is no numbered badge to indicate where your example is in the limited edition. However, the word “America” is written on the center console in traditional Porsche letters
The doors of 1952, 1992 and 2022 are also inscribed on the doorsteps to mark the 70th anniversary of America Roadsters. And the ignition key is in line with the color of the car’s exterior.

At its core, the America Edition is a 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet, with a 3.0-liter flat six with twin-turbocharger that produces 473 hp. and 420 lb-ft of torque, the same as the non-American version.
This power is transmitted via a mandatory seven-speed manual transmission. You read this correctly: You can’t get America Edition with an automatic dual-clutch PDK. Porsche says the decision was made based on enthusiastic preferences for manual transmissions among American 911 buyers.

PASM is also available as standard equipment. As well as the sports muffler and Sport Chrono Pack. Since Porsche is Porsche, there are still options. You will have to pay for rear axle steering and carbon ceramic brakes.
You will also have to pay for the “extended internal package”. According to the people of Stuttgart, this package gives you all the subtleties in the interior you see. This includes things like the 12 o’clock mark in the Guards Red on the steering wheel and the Guards Red cross stitch on the inner edge of the wheel. It also adds a two-tone stitch to the trunk of the shift and adds a pattern to the manual lever gears in the Guards Red.
In addition, the vehicles are equipped with the expanded Sport Seats Plus double-stitch package in Guards Red and the Pebble Gray with 911 stitching on the Guards Red head restraints and leather release loops for the backrest in the same color. The floor mats also get the same two-tone stitching in Guards Red and Pebble Gray. Finally, the car’s key is painted in Azure Blue 356 to match the car, and the leather key bag with two-tone stitching and “America” relief completes the package.
So, if you really want to make your America Edition special, it’s best to choose the extended interior package. It will cost you, but hey, what is the money when you buy a limited edition Porsche?
In terms of costs, America’s MSRP is $ 186,370 (including $ 1,450 per destination). This means that the America Edition has about $ 36,000 premium compared to the base GTS Cabriolet.

You can expect dealers to receive the vehicles at the end of 2022, and although there is no talk about them yet, Porsche expects them to sell out pretty quickly. A total of 115 examples will be produced – 100 for the United States and 15 for Canada.
