The 2022 Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase is over with many trailers and announcements for upcoming Xbox and PC games. The rule for this showcase, as outlined at the beginning, is that every game shown will start within the next 12 months. It remains to be seen what the future will hold, but the Xbox certainly sounds at least optimistic. With Starfield, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Diablo IV and many others shown at the event, there is something to cover. Let’s start then, right? Here is a reminder of every release and trailer from Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022.
All new Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase announcements and trailers
Xbox and Bethesda showed over 30 games at this year’s Not-E3 show, so there’s a lot to cover. If you are looking for something specific, you can use the list below to go to the game that excites you the most. If you want a full preview of each trailer and release from the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase, just scroll down a bit more.
As always, the YouTube comment thread was full of people shouting “TIME OF MORBIN.” Well, the Xbox was listening. Stirred through a very sinister church covered in blood. A lot of blood. And on the ceiling, of course, there is a vampire. There are many explosive rifles (it turns out that vampires are quite resistant to rifle shells), shortly after which we get the various forces you will have at your disposal to chase the inhabitants of the night. Many more vampires, much more chaos and much more waiting time as there was no attached release date.Redfall was originally planned for this summer, but recently slowed down along with Starfield.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen some footage from the eagerly awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong, but it’s great to see Hornet appear so early on the show. We got a nice view of several colorful and dangerous areas, jumping quickly from dense forests to fiery dungeons and cities. We also took a good look at a number of bosses, including a horrible-looking giant mosquito and an ax-wielding creature – and many great-looking movements from the ever-nimble Hornet. There is still no news on the exact release date, but obviously everything shown at this event will be playable in the next 12 months. And we already know that it will be available in the Game Pass at launch.
The first surprising announcement of the evening was really surprising: I don’t think anyone had a “Rick and Morty-inspired FPS” on their Keigh3 bingo card, let alone a Microsoft exclusive. Justin Royland (creator / star of the aforementioned adult animated film sitcom) will play the role of your wise alien weapon companion that you will use to shoot other strange aliens on a grim drug journey around the world. The last shock came in the form of the release date of this one: it will be released in just a few months, in October 2022.
Riot Games joins Game Pass with a range of games from their back catalog
Riot Games has joined the showcase to reveal that a number of Riot titles will come in the Game Pass for PC and Mobile. Subscribers will have access to all legends in League of Legends and LoL: Wild Rift, every agent in Valorant and an initial set of maps in Legends of Runeterra. Although these games are now free to play without a Game Pass, you will receive all of the above content for free with a subscription when you arrive this winter.
Then came A Plague Tale: Requiem, with a beautiful, eerie glimpse of Amisia stealthily strolling through a village that had obviously seen better days. It seems that the same types of stressful puzzle-like survival situations are still largely the norm in this dramatic, cinematic series. Magnificent lighting is also shown here.
Even those of us who can’t drive in real life love a little Forza. Whether you’re a guide or not, you can’t deny that these are some of the most lavishly realized photorealistic video games you’ll ever see. Today’s new trailer was followed by an expanded look at the fall setting of Maple Valley’s latest game, complemented by wonderful changes in lighting depending on the time of day. Things like weather and temperature seem set to change a lot of interesting variables under the hood that also affect your driving. The future is now, people.
Microsoft Flight Simulator for adding helicopters, gliders and Halo’s Pelican
If you’re in the mood for beautiful scenery but are getting more and more tired of flying airplanes, the next update / extension of Microsoft Flight Simulator will add helicopters and gliders in November. If that’s not high-tech enough for you, players can get involved right now and download a new update that adds Halo’s Pelican. If you’ve ever wanted to fly a pelican without being blown up by some dumb rocket launcher, this is for you.
Overwatch 2 is released with another trailer that to my really incomprehensible eye looks exactly the same as Overwatch 1. Doom still Fists, Rein still Hardts and Zenyatta still looks incredibly cool. We have a lot of character poses, a lot of blasting enemies in a bunch of colorful new cards – and one of Overwatch’s distinctive kinematics, which seems to reveal some free arena mode for everyone. Early access for Overwatch 2 begins on October 4.
Ara: History Untold carries the great historical strategy in Game Pass
We knew we were expecting news of some of the most spectacular PC Gaming Show strategies later tonight, but ARA History Untold still managed to be a surprising announcement for the Xbox showcase. This initial trailer doesn’t tell us much about what will set the game apart from, say, the extensive multi-part Paradox franchise, except that it looks like several historical eras will be presented in one game. Oh, and it will be available in the Game Pass on the first day.
The Elder Scrolls Online: High Isle extension will launch next week
A new trailer for the upcoming expansion of Elder Scrolls Online, High Isle, gives us a deeper look at the titular location. High Isle is a whole new place that the Elder Scrolls franchise has never visited before, giving ESO players a first look at this new region. Those on the console will have to wait until June 21, but PC players can jump into the High Isle right now.
Fallout 76: The Pitt will allow players outside of Appalachia this September
Celebrating 25 years of Fallout, we also looked at Fallout 76: The Pitt, in which players will leave the Appalachians for the first time and return to Pitt, the remnants of the heavily ruined Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which was completely overtaken by attackers. In September, players will embark on expeditions to this relentless city, both above and below it, earning all sorts of loot and XP along the way.
Next is Forza, with the announcement of a bizarre addition to Forza Horizon 5, which includes a link to the brand with Hot Wheels. I remember the LEGO Speed Champions DLC for the Forza Horizon 4 match with polarizing receptions when it was announced before everyone was forced to admit that it was actually a lot of fun. From this short trailer, I think we can expect more from these grown-up jokes with toy boxes in the Hot Wheels add-on for Horizon 5, when it came out on July 19th.
The next very short trailer for Ark 2, the upcoming sequel, which will inexplicably include Vin Diesel, who rides a dinosaur. There is nothing new, but perhaps the most interesting thing is that the Xbox is expected to be released next year, as this is the theme for this showcase. These are dinosaurs, this is Vin Diesel and is expected to arrive at some point in the next twelve months.
Scorn, the meaty horror adventure game from Ebb Software, revealed its release date on October 21. The trailer begins with a suitably terrifying cinematography of someone who removes a large stringy umbilical cord appendage from his body and quickly grows into a lot of blood, explosions and rudeness. It seems like a fun time for the whole family.
Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn has cute friend creatures to join your adventure in his open world
A new trailer for the upcoming Flintlock: The Siege Of Dawn shows what I expect to be one of the main features of this open world role-playing game: wandering around with your cute animal companion next to you. I mean, seriously, super cute. There is no exact release date yet, but this trailer ends with an annoyance to launch in early 2023, in line with tonight’s theme for games you’ll be able to play throughout the year.
Continuing its commitment to expand the franchise with new ideas, Minecraft Legends is an upcoming action strategy game. The trailer seems to suggest that the story will focus on the war between Overworld and the creatures of the Lowland, while offering very short excerpts from the game. Minecraft Legends is expected to arrive in the first half of 2023.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such a useful mechanical game as this one. Lightyear: Frontier landed the following spring and appears to be a farming and construction game, but with furs. You are landing (rather calmly and successfully than in most other games, I might add) on a rather alien planet and you have to start exploring, crafting and farming from the confines of your tiny little fur suit.
Gunfire Reborn coming to Xbox is a nice reminder that Gunfire Reborn exists
Gunfire Reborn is a strange Borderlands-like shooter robber in which you and your friends take on the role of charming kitten fighters. If it sounds like I’m talking to someone with some knowledge of the subject, it’s because the game has been on Steam since last year, but this trailer informs us that it will be coming to other platforms and Game Pass …
