Seinfeld star Philip Baker Hall has died at the age of 90, “surrounded by loved ones”, according to his friend and writer Sam Farmer.
The death of the actor from Boogie Nights on Saturday night was announced by the sports writer on Twitter the next day.
“My neighbor, friend and one of the wisest, most talented and kind people I’ve ever met, Philip Baker Hall, died peacefully last night,” Farmer told the microblogging site.

The NFL columnist continued: “He was surrounded by loved ones. The world has empty space in it.
The cause of death was not announced, but he suffered from emphysema, a lung disease that causes shortness of breath, and was seen using portable oxygen at the premiere of his 2017 film The Last Word.
Hall has had an acting career spanning more than four decades and has appeared in more than 200 guest appearances on television.

Hall is particularly involved in the 1996 crime thriller Hard Eight, alongside John C. Riley, Samuel L. Jackson and Gwyneth Paltrow as the prostitute Clementine.

Other Ohio native film credits include Midnight Run, The Truman Show, Bruce Almighty and Dogville.

Hall is survived by his wife Holly Wolf and their daughters Adela and Anna.
