It seems that we have recently learned more about the upcoming celebrations of Dr. Koy’s 60th birthday next year than about the upcoming departure of the current Doctor Jody Whitaker in a few months. And yet, the more we learn about the 60’s, the weirder it gets.

The latest BBC news is that Neil Patrick Harris has joined the upcoming special role in a major, undisclosed role. An image of Harris’s character was released, but no further details were given about his role:

Something like a tinsmith / inventor is definitely happening here, but beyond that, who can say? It’s not the new showrunner Russell T. Davis, that’s for sure. “But who, why, what is he playing,” Davis thought theatrically in a new statement from the BBC. “You just have to wait. But I promise you, the things we’re shooting now are out of scale. Doctor, beware! ”

Harris joins returnees David Tennant and Catherine Tate in the special program for the 60th anniversary, reviving their roles as the 10th Doctor (or at least some version of the Doctor) and Donna Noble, respectively. Harris joins another Whogo star, Jasmine Feeney of Heartstopper, has confirmed that she will play a similar mysterious character … named Rose. Maybe this Rose, maybe another Rose, maybe connected, but once again: who knows?

The special program will air on or around, probably, the 60th anniversary of Doctor Who on November 23, 2023. Meanwhile, Dr. Jody Whitaker will return for his swan song in an as-yet-untitled battle with Teacher Sasha Davan later this year.
