The Astra rocket launch company is not getting the best experience since its latest mission to NASA failed – just months after its latest payload for the agency failed to reach orbit.
The TROPICS mission includes two cubos designed to join the existing NASA constellation of the same name. The Astra Rocket 3.3 took off from Cape Canaveral in Florida on Sunday, but despite what Astra described as a good performance in the first stage, the second stage encountered a problem and shut down before delivering its payload into orbit.
We had a nominal flight in the first stage. The upper stage was shut down early and we did not deliver the payload into orbit. We shared our regrets with @NASA and the payload team. More information will be provided once we have completed a full review of the data.

Astra launched a successful orbital launch in March, using the same iteration of its launch vehicle for the client Spaceflight, Inc. This mission took off from Kodiak, Alaska. Astra has not yet completed a successful mission from Florida.
The company went public through the merger of SPAC in 2021 and its share price fell by nearly 24% before the market opened.
