During its WWDC 2022 event last week, Apple unveiled its M2 chip and redesigned MacBook Air, which garnered much of the attention, though it won’t be the first laptop with the new processor you can purchase. Apple will also offer the M2 in the familiar 13-inch Macbook Pro Touch Bar, which will be available for pre-order this Friday, June 17, before the new MacBook Air goes on sale in July.
We have a ready-made comparison chart so you can recommend the capabilities of this laptop to the new Air, as well as the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops, which were updated last year to offer options for the M1 Max and M1 Ultra processors. Apple offers active cooling, which Air does not have, as a reason to choose this model for people with particularly demanding work processes or who enjoy intense 3D games on their Mac.

However, compared to the Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro starts at a higher price of $ 1299 for a model with an octa-core M2 CPU with 10 GPU cores, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD, making it difficult to recommend without MagSafe, 1080p web camera or other design improvements. For an additional fee, you can choose up to 24 GB of RAM ($ 400 option) or up to 2TB ($ 800), and Apple says it has a longer battery life, as well as Wi-Fi 6. However, the cheapest 14- Inch MacBook Pro costs $ 1999, so if Pro features and design are a must, then it’s a cheaper option.
If this is your choice, then you can order it this week and expect worldwide shipments to begin on June 24.
