Overwatch 2 Beta receives a release date, registration opens on June 16

The next beta version of Overwatch 2 officially has a date. Blizzard tweeted that the playlist will start on June 28, which means that fans will be able to touch the sequel in less than two weeks.

The Blizzard tweet reveals that the beta version will include access to Junker Queen, the new character unveiled during Sunday’s Xbox + Bethesda Showcase, as well as a new map. Further details will be published on June 16 along with registrations.

The new beta version of Overwatch 2 follows the closed alpha test conducted in late April, when the series reached the peak of Twitch’s viewership. Blizzard has since announced that the PvP portion of Overwatch 2 will be released early on October 4 and will be free to play.

Under development for several years, Overwatch 2 has undergone several major changes, the most notable of which is the decision to release the PvP and PvE sections of the game separately. Overwatch 2 also reconfigured the squads to be 5v5 instead of 6v6, while redesigning its existing character list.

Much more information about Overwatch 2 will be revealed during the game’s demo event on June 16. Until then, keep an eye on IGN for all major announcements as the Summer of Games continues.
