The Northern Tornadoes project confirms that it has touched a funnel cloud

An EF1-rated tornado did land in southeastern Alberta earlier this month, officials confirmed Monday.

It happened shortly after 4 pm on June 6 during a storm near Enchant, Alta. and drone footage taken by the Northern Tornadoes (NTP) project shows damage to a field, along with a grain basket that was destroyed and left scattered.

Damage to the Quonset hut and shed has also been reported, and wind speeds are thought to have reached 150 km / h.

The funnel cloud left a trail about a kilometer long and 120 meters wide, NTP reported.

Enchant is about 212 kilometers southeast of Calgary.

This was one of three tornadoes confirmed by the NTP in recent weeks. One was confirmed in northwestern Ontario on May 30 and another in southern Saskatchewan on June 10.
