The federal government will announce this week that vaccination mandates for domestic travel by plane and train, as well as for outbound international travel, will be suspended, CTV News has learned.
The announcement will be made on Tuesday, and the change will take effect on Wednesday, high-ranking government sources told CTV News.
Foreigners coming to Canada will still need to be vaccinated.
The mandates first entered into force on 30 October 2021 and require all passengers on airplanes or trains to be fully vaccinated in order to be able to board.
The government is facing pressure to reduce travel restrictions as passenger volumes increase and airports see long delays for passengers.
