Darwin Nunes has confirmed his transfer to Liverpool from Benfica and the Portuguese club has now clarified the breakdown of the initial fee of £ 64.2 million.
Nunes has scored an impressive 34 goals in all competitions this season – including in both of their European clashes against the Reds in the quarter-finals, bringing the race to six for the campaign – with Liverpool winning the race for their signature.
The Uruguayan national will always be one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe this summer after a sensational season in the Primeira Liga and Champions League and has been linked with a number of top European clubs. His move to Anfield will break the club’s record £ 75 million transfer fee paid to Virgil van Dyke in 2018.

The Reds have paid a preliminary fee of £ 64.2 million (€ 75 million) along with another £ 21.5 million (€ 25 million) in readily available supplements. However, the Portuguese giants will not receive the full amount of this fee and will receive only £ 46.7 million from the prepayment.
The old Uruguayan club of Nunes Penarol won £ 1.94 million from the deal, while Almeria will enjoy an unexpected profit of £ 8.95 million due to their agreement to sell the Benfica striker a year ago. In addition, the Portuguese club will lose 10 percent for “brokerage services”, amounting to £ 6.24 million.
A statement from the Portuguese club reads: “Sport Lisboa e Benfica – Futebol, SAD (” Benfica SAD “) confirms, following a statement published on 13 June 2022, that the transfer of Darwin Nunes to Liverpool has been confirmed by FC for the amount of 75 million euros.

“It is further explained that FC Liverpool will have the right to maintain the solidarity mechanism for further distribution to the clubs involved in the player’s training.
“In addition, Benfica SAD will have brokerage fees of 10% of the sale value deducted from the solidarity amount and will also have to provide UD Almeria with the amount corresponding to 20% of the value of the capital gain received from this transfer, up to a limit of EUR 10 million. “
While the Reds have paid £ 64.2 million in advance for the player, there is an additional £ 21.3 million in extras. An additional £ 4.3 million (€ 5 million) will be paid after Nunes plays 10 matches for his new club and when he reaches the final stage of 60 matches, £ 8.6 million (€ 10 million) will be paid. The remaining £ 8.6 million (€ 10 million) will depend on performance goals, both individual and collective. This brings the total value of the deal to £ 85.5 million (€ 100 million).
