WASHINGTON, June 14 (Reuters) – US President Joe Biden’s public approval rating fell to 39% in the third consecutive weekly decline, approaching the lowest level of his presidency, according to a Reuters / Ipsos poll. in Tuesday.

A two-day national poll found that 56 percent of Americans disapprove of Biden’s work.

Biden’s approval rating is below 50% since August, a sign that his Democratic Party may be on track to lose control of at least one House of Congress in the November 8 by-elections.

This year, Biden has been plagued by rising inflation, with Russia’s invasion of Ukraine helping to raise fuel prices and global supply chains still hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biden’s decline in popularity is largely due to discontent in his own party. Seventy-four percent of Democrats approved of Biden’s performance this week, down about 85 percent in August. Only 11% of Republicans approve, largely unchanged from August.

Biden’s overall approval rating has not yet reached the lows seen by his predecessor, Donald Trump, whose popularity bottomed out at 33% in December 2017. Biden’s lowest rating so far was 36% at the end of May.

The Reuters / Ipsos survey is conducted online in English in the United States. The latest poll gathered responses from a total of 1,005 adults, including 443 Democrats and 364 Republicans. There is a confidence interval – a measure of precision – of four percentage points.
