BTS are saying goodbye to the fans for now. The huge K-pop band, which probably has the most obsessive fans on the planet, has announced that it is on pause so that members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook can focus on their individual projects.

BTS shared the news during their Festa dinner, an annual event where the band sits down to celebrate its anniversary. This year BTS celebrates its ninth year as a group.

During the filmed dinner (the video was uploaded to the BTS channel on Youtube), the members reflect on their careers, their indestructible relationship as colleagues in the group and their endless gratitude to their fans. RM says that although the group has reached unimaginable heights as a unit, individual artists have more to develop on their own.

“I think we need to spend some time apart to learn to be one again,” added Jay-Hope. He then addressed the audience directly: “I hope you do not see this as something negative and you see it as a healthy plan. I think the BTS will get stronger that way. “

Each member of the group has already taken the first steps towards focusing on their individual crafts. All seven BTS members have released solo music, with J-Hope reserving a solo spot at this year’s Lollapalooza Festival, and Suga and Jungkook releasing singles in the last few months. Suga lent a hand in the production of Jungkook’s February offer “Stay Alive” and Suga joined PSY for “That That” in April.

“People think, ‘Wow, BTS!’ But when it comes to each member, people don’t know who each of us is,” RM said in a video of BTS’s decision to go solo now. “And since we are singers, it would be most effective if we show it with our music or performance.”

Although the excitement among the band for this new era was clear, Suga stressed that the disruption of BTS is by no means permanent. “It’s not like we’re relaxing,” he said.

“I think this change is what we need right now,” agrees Jay-Hope. “It’s important for BTS to start our second chapter.”
