Apple may have announced at the WWDC that the M2 MacBook Pro is not coming until July, but pre-orders open earlier: Apple announced that the M2 MacBook Pro will be available for order this Friday, June 17. Here’s everything you need to know about the new laptop.
What’s new in the M2 MacBook Pro?
Before we talk about how to pre-order, let’s take a look at what’s new with the machine. Basically, it’s just a processor. Apple hasn’t changed anything about the design or features of the laptop, so if you like the current model with Touch Bar, this one will just be faster. It has no MagSafe or slot, although it will be slightly faster than the MacBook Air in some circumstances due to its advanced cooling system.
When will the M2 MacBook Pro go on sale?
The new MacBook Pro will go on sale on Friday, June 17, at 5 a.m. PT. (6 am MDT, 7 am CDT and 8 am EDT). In the UK, sales will start at 13:00 and 22:00 in Sydney, Australia.
How can you pre-order the new MacBook Pro?
There are a few things you can do now to make pre-ordering easier and better your chances of getting one in the very likely case of limited availability.
Step 1: Create or verify your Apple Store account now
It is recommended that you check the account you are using to make purchases with Apple now. You don’t want to find that you have to enter a new credit card or alternate shipping address when trying to order your new Apple product. It is best to check now, as it is very likely that Apple will take the Apple Store offline before launching the product. Here’s how to check your Apple Store account:
- Click this link to summarize the activities of your Apple account.
- Log in with your password or tap or Face ID.
- Check that your delivery address is still correct.
- Make sure your current credit card is listed as a form of payment.
Step 2: Save the desired model in the Apple Store app
You can choose the MacBook Pro configurations you want in the Apple Store app on your iPhone or iPad. Just scroll through the options and then click Add to saved items.
Once the pre-order is open, you should be able to quickly find it in the Saved Items as soon as the store returns online. To find your saved items in the Apple Store app, click your icon in the upper right corner and scroll down to and tap Saved items.
Step 3: Set your alarm for Friday
Especially if you’re in California, where you start very early at 5 in the morning!
Where to buy a MacBook Pro
You do not need to buy directly from Apple. There are many Apple dealers who will be happy to sell you a MacBook Pro, and some may even offer pre-order discounts. We will update the charts below when stores start selling the new laptop.
