Fast for WhatsApp users – today Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that users will now be able to switch between Android and iPhone without losing the encryption of their messages.
As Zuckerberg notes, this is a highly sought-after feature that provides more flexibility and security for many WhatsApp users who want to switch to a new device.
WhatsApp added the ability to transfer your data from iPhone to Android last year, which was a key point of pain for many WhatsApp users.
Prior to last year’s update, transferring your information meant losing your chat history, as there was no way to maintain the security of the transition. Because WhatsApp chats are encrypted from end to end and stored on the device, Meta says it had to work with OS developers to come up with a solution that makes it easier to share data this way.
And now those who switch between Android and iPhone will have the same capacity, which will give users more choice when choosing and managing devices.
The updated process is introduced for all WhatsApp users from today.
