AEW
AEW had to present a great show last night because the promotion reached a low point.
Many things came together to create a suboptimal public image. Dr Brit Baker and Marina Shafir liked a tweet alleging that Thunder Rosa destroyed Shafir in his TV match last week. Thunder Rosa herself is said to be disappointed with her perceived role as belated. Jeff Hardy was arrested for DUI and was publicly removed by Tony Hahn in a sad, seemingly inevitable story. The fact that Khan had made Hardy run with heavy cascades raised concerns. Why did literally everyone else see, before the news broke, that putting Jeff Hardy on a ladder after his strange, almost disastrous performance in Double Or Nothing was the wrong idea?
At the same time, the promotion lately has not enjoyed a rich, acclaiming spell. The road to the reorganized main event of Forbidden Door was confusing, the futility of the ranking system was openly ridiculed by the FTR, and there is a general feeling that Khan is reassuring his huge list more than telling great, focused stories.
Did the dynamite show a return to form …?
