A shooting in South Kitchener is under investigation

Waterloo Regional Police say a number of shots were fired at a vehicle near Kitchen’s Fairview Park Mall on Thursday morning.

In a tweet posted at 5:39 a.m., police warned the public that there would be an increased officer presence in the Greenfield Avenue and Kingsway Drive area for the investigation. No casualties were reported.

Police said the incident appeared to be deliberate.

When CTV News cameras arrived around 8 a.m., police tape could be seen around a small playground in the area.

A resident who lives nearby, who did not want to appear on camera, told CTV News that there is a public path in the area that many people use.

She said there has been a lot of policing in the neighborhood lately and she does not feel safe leaving her children to play outside.

The incident in one of the two shootings on Thursday morning in Kitchener is being investigated by the police.

There are no reports of casualties in either incident.

Police said they were looking to see if the two shootings were linked. They say they will go around both neighborhoods and a drone will fly over both places.

The incident involved multiple shots of a vehicle at the scene.

The shooting seems to be aimed.
