A family is raising money for a British father who says he suffered multiple injuries when he was chased by a gang in Spain – then thrown off a cliff. Relatives of Steen Nodwell, 29, say he was on holiday with friends in the coastal resort of Salou on Friday night.
Steen, of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, says he was chased by a group of men. The father of three says he was attacked, then pushed off a cliff and left with a broken skull and broken arms.
His sister Bethan says he is now trapped in a Spanish hospital in the nearby town of Tarragona and needs a number of surgeries.
On a GoFundMe page, she says: “Hello, I’m Bethan. “This fundraiser is helping my brother, who was left to die during a holiday in Spain.
“Steen is a strong and determined man and this incident shows that. “A gang of local men chased my brother and after brutally attacking him, threw him off a cliff.
“Only through pure determination and courage did my brother, despite his life-threatening injuries, manage to get up and go for help. If he had not done so, the outcome could have been tragically different.
“These men tried to kill my brother and now we need your help. “Steen has two broken arms, one of which is a complex fracture, a broken jaw, a broken eye and skull, a broken cheekbone, internal injuries and more.
“He needs several operations, all of which are covered by his GHIC happiness card. “However, there are other costs that we need help with.
” Steen can’t fly home because of his injuries and he won’t be able to fly for more than a year (low flying is also not an option). “This is an 18+ hour trip, which is expected to be done by car. We need to raise funds so that we can find a suitable trip with medical help.
“Not only that, but Steen needs help and support from his family, who will have to be with him. – This means that travel costs will soon increase.

“Whether you’re helping with pennies or pounds, every little bit helps. Or even a share of that fundraiser. Our family appreciates all this.
“Everyone who knows my brother knows his strong character, I have no doubt that he will do better than anyone I know. “But let’s make it as convenient as possible.”
She told ITV News West Country: “The biggest concern is the broken skull and the eye socket. They want to operate on him first in Spain. He has a broken cheekbone, a broken jaw, two broken arms, internal bleeding and needs to be examined by a neurologist to determine more. “
Steen’s health insurance will only cover the cost of medical operations, so the family will have to raise money to get him back. Fundraising can be found here.
