Square Enix has announced the second part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
New footage from the game was shown at the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7, presented by producer Yoshinori Kitase.
Kitase also confirmed not only the launch of the game – winter 2023 – but also that the entire remake project will consist of three parts. This is Remake, Rebirth and an as yet unnamed third game.
The footage shows Cloud, Zack and Sephiroth, with a voice behind Aerit. “Wait, what are you implying? That I’m dead? That I’m some kind of fraud?” she says. It seems that with Rebirth the team is really playing with the story of the original.
And, as expected, the footage looks stunning. So far, it has only been announced for the PS5.
“The development of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has progressed rapidly since we adopted a new development structure,” said creative director Tetsuya Nomura.
“A title on this scale, in which everything is interconnected even before the start of production, is really rare. In fact, some development has already begun on the third title. I started the development myself and am working to complete the series.
The unknown journey will continue.
