Russian forces are “very exhausted” in the battle for Severodonetsk

The defense ministry also said Ukraine had withdrawn troops to more strategic defensive positions from Severodonetsk, possibly beyond the Seversky Donets River, before its main outposts were destroyed.

But local authorities have warned that Russia still has a significant advantage in heavy weapons, which allows its forces to use artillery attacks to force resistance fighters in Severodonetsk to obey before launching ground attacks.

Similar tactics are being used in local cities, such as neighboring Lisichansk, as fighting in the Donbass continues to intensify, according to the Ukrainian armed forces.

“The Russian occupiers continue to use all available weapons against our troops in the areas of Bilohirovka, Lisishtank and Severodonetsk,” the General Staff said in a post on social media on Thursday.

“The enemy does not stop trying to establish full control over the city of Severodonetsk, the fighting continues.
